Iwan Thomas MBE was one of the worlds best 400m sprinters. He is the current UK 400m record holder with an incredible time of 44.36 seconds and the current 400m record holder of the Commonwealth Games.
Iwan has represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games and Wales at the Commonwealth Games. His accomplishments in athletics include a silver medal at the '96 Olympic Games in Atlanta in the 4x400m relay event and a gold medal in the '98 Commonwealth Games. He famously won the gold medal at the '97 World Championships in Athens and won 2 gold medals in the 1998 European Championships in Budapest. He also represented Britain in the 2000 Olympics and was a key member of the legendary Great Britain 4x400m relay team which included top runners Roger Black, Jamie Baulch and Mark Richardson.
Due to his outstanding achievements in athletics Iwan was awarded an MBE in 1998 and is highly regarded as one of the best British athletes to ever represent Great Britain and Wales.
Iwan is a familiar face on our television sets. He can be seen as a regular guest on Channel 5's 'The Wright Stuff' and has featured on the popular driving show '5th Gear.' He is a regular panelist on BBC Two's 'Through The Keyhole,' and been a contestant on such shows as 'Celebrity Masterchef, Superstars, Total Wipeout and The Real Hustle.' He recently starred in the show 'Daily Cooks Challenge' as a judge alongside presenter Antony Worrall Thompson and most recently can be seen on ITV's morning show 'Daybreak' as an Olympic and sports presenter.
